Power - Original Print by A.M. Rush
One of four pieces that create the exhibition Territory of Thought.
Power is a commentary. This print channels both personal emotion and social observation. Created during a time of frustration and uncertainty, it explores authority, resistance, control, and voice.
The image includes both symbols of empowerment and conflict. The surrounding words are not just descriptions—they are charged with energy: unplug, reclaim, rage, outcry.
“Power” here is not a single thing—it’s contested ground.

A Piece from the “Territory of Thought” Collection
An exhibition by A.M. Rush
In 2008, artist Alison (A.M. Rush) created four powerful prints, each emerging from an open-ended creative brief: make something and give it a name.
What began as a simple naming exercise became a process of deep personal reflection, as each image invited Alison to explore layers of memory, emotion, and perspective.
The four central prints—SELF, PLACE, POWER, and LAND—form the foundation of this exhibition. At the time of their creation, Alison was in her late twenties, living in a changing world and observing the shifting forces around her.
Sixteen years later, these prints still resonate, now layered with new meaning through time, distance, and maturity. They remain as relevant today as they were then—perhaps more so.
Each print began with intuition. But when asked to “title” them, Alison found herself giving not just names, but anchor points—words that held the essence of the imagery she had created. Those four titles would become conceptual entryways into broader conversations.
What you’re seeing here is not a literal story, but a space to think—a Territory of Thought. The surrounding words, stenciled across the adjoining walls, are extensions of the internal dialogue that began with each print.
They are reflections, resonances, and provocations—designed not to define the art, but to open it up.
